Isabella Dobrescu

Professor Isabella Dobrescu is the Deputy Head of the School of Economics. A microeconometrician by training, she is currently involved in several evaluation studies designed to identify on 'what works' in education, providing insights into ways to address the challenges of modern higher education. Her broader research spans cognition and decision-making, with a focus on mental and economic wellbeing.

Alberto Motta

Professor Alberto Motta is the Deputy Director of UNSW’s Scientia Education Academy. His research focuses on developing theoretical models and applying econometric methods to study the types and features of organizational design that are most effective. In the education space, he is leading several evaluation studies that will provide insights into what drives 'good education' and the role of experiential learning in online environments.

Richard Holden

Professor Richard Holden is the President of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, director of the Economics of Education Hub @ UNSW Business School, a fellow of the Econometric Society, a distinguished fellow of the Luohan Academy, and senior research fellow of the e61 Institute.. His research focuses on contract theory, organizational economics, law and economics, and political economy. 

Valentyn Panchenko

Professor Valentyn Panchenko's main research area is Econometrics including big data, networks, dependence modelling, Granger causality, model evaluation and prediction, and structural modelling. He is also interested in economic models with bounded rationality, heterogeneous agents, learning and economic interactions.

Marco Faravelli

Associate Professor Marco Faravelli is doing research in microeconomics, both from a theoretical and an experimental perspective, with a particular interest in political economy and education. The main focus of his research is on the interaction between competition and ethical considerations, and strategic decision-making.

Stephanie McWhinnie

Senior Lecturer Stephanie McWhinnie is an applied microeconomist whose work develops new datasets to examine unanswered questions, adapts tools to be more applicable to analysing policy from an economics perspective, and identifies unexplored aspects of producer and consumer behaviour. Her courses focus on economics as a way of thinking and develop students’ abilities to analyse real-world economic and policy situations. 

Keith Chee Y. Ooi

Associate Professor Keith Chee Y. Ooi (MBBS Dip Paeds FRACP PhD) is a Clinical Academic at the UNSW Faculty of Medicine and Senior Specialist Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital. He is an internationally recognised expert in cystic fibrosis (CF) and pancreatic diseases in childhood. He has brought his scientific approach to medical education research, with particular focus and interest in technology driven educational tools, including serious games for medical education.

Michael Coffey

Doctor Michael Coffey is the Paediatric Registrar at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick & Conjoint Associate Lecturer at UNSW Faculty of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine. He has published widely on issues related to alimentary and respiratory Ttacts in health and disease, paediatric cystic fibrosis and pancreatic diseases more broadly. In education, he has focused in particular on the use of technology for training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation via VR and emergency medicine training through serious games.
